Yancey County firefighters battled a large fire last night at Parkers Lumber Mill just outside of Burnsville in West Yancey. The blaze broke out just before 5:30 pm destroying a section of the mill. Only one worker was at the mill and there were no injuries. Crews worked feverously to keep the fire from spreading. Fire crews from the county as-well-as departments from several other county’s joined forces to battle the blaze.
