Jennifer Isaacs took this picture of a purple petunia in her back yard.

This photo was actually taken by Cathy Burger of Blissfield, Michigan, who sent it to Ron and Mary Penley, who sent it to us to share with everyone.

 Illumbra Art Gallery in downtown Bakersville, North Carolina will present a new exhibition “Dancing in the Mountains” featuring Yvonne Hegney.  The exhibition opened August 6 and continues through September 16, 2005.A portion of all proceeds from the show will be donated to the Mitchell County Historical Society to help with the beautification of the Historic Courthouse Park.  The park is on the site where the old jailhouse once stood before the tragic fire that ravaged it and took the lives of 8 young individuals. This hybiscus, taken by Michelle Wheeler,  is in a large planter in her front yard and just keeps delivering beautiful blooms like this one.

"Murphy in the Morning", a.k.a. Steve Murphy and Clarice Turner were married on Friday, August 19th. Congratulations and Best Wishes from all of us at WTOE. Mary Marsh attended the ceremony and snapped this photo.

Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Youth of Spruce Pine took a mission trip on August 6th and 7th to Welch WV.  They took clothes, food and school supplies to those less fortunate in the poverty stricken coal mining area of WV. While there they attended church services with some of the locals. The youth group and their teachers consisted of from left to right, Trish Waldroup, Jeannine Gunter, Ken Waldroup, Luke Hensley, Ashley Phillips, Tim Wilson, Jessica Fisher, Shane Gunter, Laura Waldroup, Mallerie Pittman, Tara Gunter, Ella Stout, Daniel Cassida, Jessica Grindstaff, Brian Fisher, John Stewart, Faith Biggs, Justin Burke, Andy Burleson, Dustin Staton, Seth McClellan,Daniel Singleton, Andy Phillips, Malcom Harwood & Adam Waldroup.Photo by Ken.
